The point of making this blog is to give advise on nice places to visit for anyone traveling to Honduras. I received a tip about the next place from our good friend Yara, our Ministry of Tourism insider who has offered many great tips to us in the past.
I am talking about the Maya Vista Hotel & Restaurant. A small but tall standing hotel with restaurant, located on a hilltop overlooking the bay of Tela. Although we did not stay in the hotel, I cannot speak for it in terms of accommodation but I can definitely recommend the restaurant which we fell in love with, not only for the food but also for the stunning ocean view. The restaurant sits just above multiple mango tree tops with a spectacular 180 degree view of Tela. It is THE place to enjoy the reddish-orange Tela sunsets which seemed to make everything taste better, including the conch soup, a seafood specialty found on the Honduran coasts. Tela is quite famous for offering one of the best soups in the country and the one at Maya Vista was no exception.
Next time we visit Tela we'll stay here for sure because even if the rooms are not up to standards (I am sure they will), nothing beats the view from the rooms which are at an even higher elevation than the restaurant.
