About Me

Me diving thePrince Albert Wreckin Roatan
My name is Manlio Martinez and I am an independent tourism consultant located in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. In 2008 I obtained a Masters Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management from Gothenburg University in Gothenburg, Sweden and I graduated from UNAH Honduras in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

I have previous work experience as a university professor at UNITEC, as the administrator for Sunwing Vacations, a Canadian tour operator in the island of Roatan, Bay Islands, as well as having prior experience in event management and in the insurance industry. Apart from writing this blog I also have contributed with written articles and photographs for Come to Honduras, a tourism magazine dedicated to promote our top destinations.

The whole point of this blog is to show off as much of Honduras as possible, all from my personal point of view. It is basically where I have been, what I have tried, and what I have liked, in my own words. You should not take everything I say for granted, after all it is my opinion, but I do hope to at least give you an idea of what to expect from my own personal travels, and perhaps you can pick up on a tip or two.

I am extremely excited to announce that I have recently incorporated into my photographic "repertoire" a whole new type of photography, the underwater kind! Together with my PADI open-water and advanced open-water diving certifications which I obtained in 2001 and 2004 in the Bay Islands of Utila and Roatan, respectively, I have combined these two diverse skills to present a more complete panoramic view of my country...

So whether it’s Honduras on land, or Honduras under the sea, I invite you to come to my beautiful land, to experience, to explore, and to try the unexpected and let that wandering spirit of adventure drive you!!!!
